single bet calculator

Right — been using this thing for maybe four months now and it's basically bookmarked at this point, so figured I'd write something up since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. I'm based in the UK, mainly stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.

How I found it was actually a bit daft — I couldn't ever work out what an ew return would be once you get five places instead of three. Basically I'd guess and get a shock. Now I type the odds in first, every time, even a simple single bet.

The single bet calculator is the part I use most — you put in stake and odds and it spits out profit and total return straight away, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — acca and treble maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, honestly that's where I'd always got it wrong. If you want a look, it's over at lay dutching calculator — free, no signup.

The thing that genuinely changed how I bet were the geekier bits. There's an probability thing that shows how much the bookie's taking, and there's the kelly staking calculator — I run quarter kelly since full stakes are a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutch tool is handy too when I'm covering two or three runners.

Couple of gripes. The interface is a bit basic — not much flash, which honestly I don't mind but some will. On mobile it's usable but the bigger tables are a squeeze. Also there's no proper app, it's browser only — doesn't bother me but worth saying.

Right, that's me. Doesn't cost anything, barely any ads, works. Anyone who still works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me plenty of dumb bets I'd have regretted.
