single bet calculator

OK — have been messing about with this thing for maybe a few months now and it's basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I'd write something up since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. Am UK based, generally bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, so take it how you like.

The reason I started using it was actually pretty stupid — I couldn't ever get my head round what an e/w payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just wing it and moan when the payout landed. Now I stick my stake in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.

Their single bet calculator is the bit I use most — you drop in your stake, the odds and it shows returns with no faffing, fractions or decimals. It also handles the multiples — acca and treble maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, yankees, honestly that's where most people I know got it wrong. If you want a look, it's over at each way bet calc — free, no signup.

What actually made a difference were the geekier bits. They've got an implied probability calculator which shows you how much the bookie's taking, and a kelly calculator — I run quarter kelly as the full version is terrifying. The dutch tool is handy too when I'm splitting a race.

Not all sunshine though. Its interface feels very functional, let's say — no polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it works but the bigger tables are a squeeze. There's no app, it's a website and that's it — slight shame but worth saying.

Anyway. Free, not plastered in adverts, works. Anyone who even now adds it up in their head, have a look — it's saved me plenty of dumb bets I'd have regretted.
